Psychotherapy for Adolescents

Support for Teens Navigating Change, Stress, and Emotional Challenges

Adolescence brings significant emotional, social, academic, and developmental changes. For some teenagers, those changes can feel overwhelming without additional support.

I provide psychotherapy for adolescents in Rockwall, TX in a respectful environment where teens can talk openly about what they are experiencing, develop greater emotional awareness, and build healthier ways of managing challenges.

When Your Teen May Benefit from Therapy

Changes parents may notice include:

  • Withdrawing from family, friends, or activities
  • Changes in school performance or motivation
  • Increased irritability or emotional outbursts
  • Changes in sleep, eating, or energy
  • Persistent sadness, worry, or self-criticism
  • Difficulty managing friendships or peer pressure
  • Struggling after grief, family changes, or other major transitions

Every adolescent is different. Therapy provides an opportunity to better understand what your teen is experiencing and determine what type of support may be helpful.

Concerns I Work With

I work with adolescents experiencing:

  • Depression/anxiety
  • Stress and burnout
  • ADHD
  • Grief and trauma
  • Self-esteem concerns
  • Peer and social difficulties
  • School-related stress
  • Major life transitions

I tailor therapy to each adolescent’s individual needs, experiences, maturity, and goals.

My Approach to Adolescent Therapy

I believe adolescents benefit from being treated as individuals rather than being given a predetermined approach.

I create a respectful space where teens can talk openly and work through concerns without feeling lectured or judged. Therapy may focus on emotional awareness, coping skills, communication, self-understanding, and healthier ways of responding to stress and change.

When appropriate, I also work with parents to support the adolescent’s overall treatment and progress.

Supporting Growth and Confidence

My goal is to help adolescents better understand themselves, communicate more effectively, and develop coping skills they can use beyond the therapy room. With more than 25 years of clinical experience, I have worked with adolescents across a variety of clinical and educational settings. I bring that experience to each patient while keeping treatment individualized to the teenager in front of me.
